An investigation is underway following the discovery of the bodies of a man and a woman in Dublin.

The remains were located in a first floor flat at Drumalee Court just off the North Circular Road at lunchtime today.

The complex which is owned by Dublin City Council houses senior citizens.

It’s believed the pair who were aged in their 60s died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

A Garda forensic team and officials from Bord Gais are carrying out an examination of the scene which remains sealed off.

The Finance Minister says he's confident a deal will be done with trade unions as the Government demands a further €1 billion in cost cuts from the public sector. 

Initial talks on the successor deal to Croke Park began this morning with the Government side setting out its stall, including extra hours for the same wage, pay cuts for high earners and cuts to weekend and overtime rates. 

Unions say there is no possibility of a deal on the basis of current Government demands. 

NAMA is alleging a hotelier with debts of nearly €28 million has acted to move assets beyond its reach by transferring 40 properties to his wife and others.

The State bank is looking for summary judgment against David Cullen, of Carrickmines, Dublin who owns the well known pub The Turks Head in the city centre.

Cullen is alleged to have defaulted on Bank of Ireland loans and the money was drawn down for a project in Co. Wexford and to develop the Turks Head and Paramount Hotel in Temple Bar, Dublin.

NAMA which took over the loans in 2010 says it concerned Mr Cullen has allegedly taken steps that have moved these assets beyond its reach by transferring them to his wife and others.

The Commercial Court was informed today that the businessman has an address in Kensington, London and is now seeking UK bankruptcy at a hearing this May.

A 46 year old man will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to murdering an Irish vet in Wales. 

37 year old Catherine Gowing originally from Co. Offaly was last seen near her home in Flintshire in October of last year. 

Her family laid her to rest on January 3rd last after some of her remains were found by police. 

Clive Sharp today pleaded guilty to Catherine's murder and faces a jail term of between 15 and 25 years. 

He'll be sentenced on February 25th.

Revenue Officers have seized cocaine worth over €280,000 at Kerry airport.

Officers stopped and searched a British man in his 60s as he arrived on a flight from Frankfurt and discovered 4 kilos of cocaine in the lining of his rucksack.

It's the largest seizure of cocaine at Kerry Airport.

The man has been arrested and investigations are ongoing.
