The gender gap is narrower in this country than nearly everywhere else in the world, a new World Economic Forum report has found.

Only Scandinavian women enjoy greater equality with their men folk in the economic, educational, health and political spheres.

Ireland is ranked fifth out of 135 countries worldwide in the Gender Gap Index 2012, coming behind Iceland, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

And keeping with the ‘greatness of Ireland’ theme, Roscommon is now on the hot list of places to see.

It’s all thanks to Chris O’Dowd and Moone Boy. The Indo tells us that the booking website, Hotels.com as said that Roscommon is firmly on the map for UK visitors who are fans of the sitcom that is set in Boyle back in the 90’s.

Moone Boy has been a hit since it aired on Sky this at the beginning of the month and now fans of the show are boosting Irish tourism by paying a visit to the town.

Hotels.com have reported a surge of an increase in searches for Roscommon between September and October, which are up 185% on last year.
