Ireland is celebrating another Six Nations title win with a 17-13 victory over Scotland in the Aviva Stadium last night.

It is Ireland’s fifth title in 11 years and its second win in two years.

Dan Sheehan and Andrew Porter scored tries for the hosts, who have now won back-to-back championships.

Player of the Match, Ireland's Jamison Gibson-Park, called the win "incredible".

"We had to stay in the fight. It was two good teams going at it and we were going for a championship," he said.

"Our backs were against the wall a little bit [after last week] so I am unbelievably proud of the boys."

The tense match saw Ireland off to a slow start, ending the first half with a tight 7-3. However, the second half saw the Irish team break through the Scottish defence just enough to claim victory.

This win could be a potential swansong for Ireland Captain Peter O’Mahony, who took the helm from Johnny Sexton in January.

When asked if this was his last match, Mr O’Mahony said: “I don’t know. I have a few chats to have with family and stuff in the next couple of weeks and if it was my last one it’s not a bad one to go out on.

“[It’s been] one of the tougher weeks of my career for lots of different reasons.

“We weren’t happy with the performance last week when we knew we could do better. but we had a job to go and do and thankfully today we went out and did it against a seriously good Scottish side.”

While Ireland has achieved a back-to-back Six Nations win, it did not achieve the hoped back-to-back Grand Slam after it was defeated by England last week.

England lost to France by a razor-thin 33-31 at Groupama Stadium.
