Things may be finally looking up for the summer with a high-pressure system set to ‘dominate’ next weekend.
Many parts of the country woke up to blue skies this morning, with Met Éireann forecasting a dry start with sunny spells.

The forecaster warned that cloud looks likely to build in Munster and South Leinster this evening with outbreaks of rain and drizzle to follow.
It said the rain will extend over Munster, much of Leinster and east Munster overnight – although temperatures are not likely to fall below 9C to 14C.
Tomorrow will bring a mostly cloudy morning with outbreaks of rain and drizzle – most persistent in the southeast, east and northeast, with highest temperatures of 15X to 20C.

The outlook for later in the week is looking more promising with the forecaster predicting drier and more settled conditions.
It said Thursday will see good spells of sunshine developing in the north before reaching all but southern areas by the end of the day.
Friday will be mostly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells – with highest temperatures between 15C and 20C.
The forecaster said current indications suggest that high pressure will “continue to dominate next weekend”, bringing a mix of cloud and sunny spells.
