There's really interesting weather ahead for the rest of the week which could go either way, a forecaster has said.
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather said there is "some hope" of a high pressure returning to our shores for the May Bank Holiday.
He warned that the situation could easily change but there is "a chance for now".
If you want some hope in the longer term, the GFS model is showing a chance of high pressure returning for May Bank Holiday. Very far away so could easily change but good to see a chance for now anyway🤞 pic.twitter.com/4Uzmpv1vaR

Alan told Lunchtime Live most of the country will continue to see sunshine until Thursday.
"There's really interesting weather ahead for the rest of this week in terms of weather model forecasting," he said.
"We have fine sunny spells for most of the country today, tomorrow's another good day.
"I'm afraid to say that 'R' word is returning on Thursday, so we are going to see some showers and rain moving into Thursday and Friday."
'Turn back around'
Mr O'Reilly said a low pressure system may make a u-turn and come back to us from Spain.
"There's a low pressure system that's going to come down the west of Ireland, look to go down south towards Spain and Portugal and then turn back around and come up towards us," he said.
"The track of that system is really going to determine what weather we get for the weekend.
"If you're making plans for this weekend based on last weekend, this is going to really make a big difference to how the weather turns out."
Mr O'Reilly said some models say the wet weather could move over to the UK.
"The further south-east you are the more likely you could be impacted by this rain," he said.
"But some of the weather models are showing it staying over with our friends in England - let them have it.
"That's only four days out so when we look beyond seven days we're really looking at trends.
"You're looking at the weather models and different output from those models and try and see is there a common trend on them."
He said the chances of high pressure for the May Bank Holiday means "there is a chance of it but also a chance it stays down south of us".
