Ireland's oldest man has passed away at 108.
Michael Lambert from Ballintubber, Co Roscommon died on Sunday night in Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.
He had turned 107 last October, and took the title of Ireland's oldest man in November when the previous holder of the title died.
Luke Dolan, who was also from Co Roscommon, passed away aged 108 at the Cloverhill Nursing Home.
The two men met for the first time last summer, when Mr Lambert visited Mr Dolan at Cloverhill.
Councillors expressed their condolences and sympathised with Mr Lambert's family at the monthly meeting of Roscommon County Council yesterday.
