The Minister for Finance says final talks on an Irish exit from the bailout programme will not begin until the autumn. The Troika will finish their second last review of Ireland's performance under the programme tomorrow.
Minister Michael Noonan says it seems we will get another good report card.
Yesterday the International Monetary Fund (IMF) praised the Irish government for its work in financial transparency. The report says Ireland is now close to international best practice for accountancy by governments.
It says a series of significant reforms in the last few years have dramatically improved the standard of financial reporting here. The body says other plans put forward by the government would make the Irish government a world leader in financial accounting.
The report also noted that government plans for further improving the timeliness, quality, and comprehensiveness of its budgets, statistics, and accounts.
Michael Noonan and Public Expenditure Minister Brendan Howlin say the report identifies a number of good practices across the system and further improvements that may be made and these areas are key aspects of the reform plan.'
Today Mr. Noonan says there have only been general discussions on an exit strategy so far.
