Irish citizen Yasser Eljuboori has been reunited with his wife and children in Dublin.
Mr Eljuboori landed at Dublin Airport this morning after a 10-day ordeal in his native Iraq.
Speaking this morning, his wife Laura Wickham said the experience has been “a living nightmare for me, but most importantly for Yasser”.
“I want to thank everyone who has worked so hard to support me and Yasser and to bring him home to Dublin,” she said.
“I have had overwhelming support from every corner of the country. I think everyone I ever met in my life has contacted me to offer support and well wishes; people I know from every single stage of my life that I haven’t seen in years.
“It has meant so much and I will never forget it.
“Above all, to Yasser, I want to say that I am so happy he’s home with me and that this nightmare is over.
“I’ll never again take for granted the normal, everyday things – going for family walks, having TV time [and] playing with our kids on the ground.
“The kids are getting their dad back, and our house will have its life and soul again. Welcome home, Yasser.”

Mr Eljuboori lives in Dublin with his wife and their three young children.
He is originally from Iraq and was detained at Baghdad Airport last week after he returned home to visit relatives.
He is a prominent anti-corruption activist who has previously written articles criticising the Iraqi Government.
After he was arrested, his family were told he was being charged with defaming Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani through his anti-corruption posts on social media.
Those charges were dropped last Thursday; however, Mr Eljuboori’s passport was withheld.
He was informed there would be “two to three days of paperwork” to complete before he would be allowed to return home to his family.
When he returned to court on Sunday to collect his passport and belongings, Mr Eljuboori was informed that he was facing two new charges and would not be permitted to leave.
He returned to court yesterday and his passport and belongings were returned to him.
He was then allowed to board a flight home and landed in Dublin Airport this morning.
