An Irish couple are hoping to bankroll their forthcoming wedding in Las Vegas by selling front-row tickets to anyone wishing to gatecrash it.
The six tickets will be made available in an online bidding war, as groom Patsy O’Connor and bride Radina Hadzhieva crowdsource the March 16th nuptials before heading off for their dream honeymoon in Disneyland.
Posting on the event’s webpage, the couple says that Sin City is the perfect venue to gatecrash their wedding, describing the free alcohol available in casinos as a key part of the “potential social hand grande” it could be.
“Most people opt for traditional weddings, but fortunately we are not your traditional type of couple,” they said.
The couple fell in love with Las Vegas after attending the wedding of a friend, and now hope to raise the funds to recreate that experience for themselves – and one which the paying gate crashers will get to share.
Prospective bidders – who must pledge an initial sum of $300 (€260) – will also have the opportunity to treat their attendance at the wedding as an audition for further revelry.
“If we like you at the wedding,” Patsy writes on their blog, “Then you will be invited along for the St. Patrick’s Day festivities, which will be on Fremont Street in downtown Vegas, the biggest party street in the city, with the entire wedding party!”
Mr O’Connor and Ms Hadzhieva have also decided to offer the branding of their marriage service to corporate sponsors in order to foot the bill for their car hire, cover the cost of their accommodation and provide discretionary funds for their gambling budget.
Bidding for a place as the "general all round shenanigans" ends in 29 days.
