An Irish registered fishing vessel has been detained by the Naval Service.
It was intercepted around 50 nautical miles South of Ballycotton in Co. Cork at 2.30 this morning, in relation to alleged breaches of technical fishing regulations.
The vessel is currently under escort by the L.E. NIAMH naval vessel to Cork and is expected to arrive later this morning when it will be handed over to the Gardaí.

So far this year, the Naval Service have carried out more than a thousand boardings, issued 38 warnings and detained 13 vessels.
