An Irish man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering an American tourist in Hungary.
Police launched a search operation after 31-year-old Mackenzie Michalski disappeared from a nightclub in Budapest last Tuesday, November 5th.
A 37-year-old Irish man was arrested two days later after CCTV showed them leaving the nightclub together - he remains in custody.
Hungarian police say Ms. Michalski's body was later found in a wooded area around 200 kilometres from Budapest.
Polish police have said that the man in custody confessed to killing the woman, but claimed it was an accident.
After his interrogation, the suspect also showed the detectives where he had hidden the body.
The investigation also revealed that after the murder, the 37-year-old man had searched the internet for the phrases "Do pigs really eat dead bodies?", "What does a corpse smell like after it decomposes", "Budapest webcams", "What happens after a person is reported missing", and "How reliable is the police in Budapest?", among others.
