A young Irish man has died in Australia after apparently falling out of a moving taxi.

The 25-year-old died in the Belmont area of Perth yesterday following a row over his fare with the driver of the cab.

The 26-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He is due in court there on December 18th. 

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that it is providing consular assistance to the family of a 25-year-old man from Northern Ireland.

Driver charged

Police allege that as one man exited the taxi the driver accelerated causing the passenger to fall.

He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital but later died.

Two crime scenes have been set up and police are also said to be searching another premises.

The 26-year-old taxi driver has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, failure to stop and render assistance and failure to report according to Australian network ABC.
