An Irishman has been involved in a tragic accident in Qatar.

The man was killed in a road traffic accident in Qatar in Western Asia.

The man is understood to be aged in his early 20s.

He is thought to be from Co. Mayo. 

The Department of Foreign Affairs says its providing consular assistance to his family.
