The father of an Irish man attacked in Australia says his son is recovering from his injuries.
25-year-old Kieran Cahill from Killarney in Co. Kerry was allegedly attacked by 3 men outside a kebab shop in Sydney in the early hours of Monday morning.
It apparently happened after he asked a number of men to stop hassling a couple of women.
The Irish Echo newspaper in Australia says one man has been charged with the assault but that police are looking for others in connection with the incident.
Underwent surgery on Tuesday
Police say he suffered a shattered jaw, and underwent an operation on Tuesday to have plates inserted.
The matter is reportedly listened for mention on March 11th before the local court.
Mr. Cahill lives in Bondi and works as a yard manager for a construction company.
His father Michael told Radio Kerry he has been in contact with his son via text message.
