An Irishwoman working as a nanny in the United States has been ordered to surrender her passport after being charged in connection with the death of a baby in her care.
Aisling McCarthy-Brady who is understood to come from Cavan pleaded not guilty at a District Court in Boston.
She is charged with assault and battery of the 1-year-old girl who died last week.
According to prosecutors the baby suffered "massive brain swelling" as a result of being assaulted on her 1st birthday on January 14th last.
She died at the Children's Hospital in the city 2 days later.
However lawyers for the 34-year-old Irish woman say the child - named as Rehma Sabir - did not die at the hands of Aisling McCarthy-Brady.
