The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed an Irish citizen has died in Norway.

The incident happened yesterday when the person was involved in a kayaking accident there.

Consular assistance to is being offered to the family of the victim.

It is believed the individual was kayaking with other Irish friends when the accident happened.

The incident reportedly happened in the central Norwegian region of Vågå.
