A major disruption which occurred on the Cork-Dublin railway line this morning has now cleared.
Irish Rail confirmed the line between Ballybrophy and Portlaoise has reopened following a major disruption.
An Irish Rail spokesperson said there will be some “residual delays” as a result of trains being displaced by the incident.
Irish Rail said the 8.30am train from Heuston to Tralee is three hours delayed, the 10.25am from Cork to Heuston is approximately 40 minutes delayed, while the 12pm from Heuston to Cork is approximately 15 minutes delayed.
Those travelling to Croke Park for matches this afternoon are advised to seek alternative transport.
Routes from Galway or Waterford to Heuston Station have not been affected, according to Irish Rail.
Previously, an Irish Rail spokesperson confirmed a person was struck around 9.30am by the 8.30am train from Heuston to Tralee.
Irish Rail said emergency services attended the incident and confirmed the person was “fatally injured”.
