French Connection says no Irish stores are to close under a restructuring plan for the company.
The group is to shut loss-making branches after reporting a loss of stg£6.3 (€7.83) million in the 6 months to the end of July.
Like-for-like sales at 70 French Connection stores in Europe fell by just under 10%.
These are mostly in Ireland and the UK.
But the company says none of the 6 Irish shops will be closed under the scheme.
A spokesperson has told Newstalk that the store closures are just 1 of 5 on-going initiatives to their retail business.
They also say this is a slow progress plan and will take time to implement.
The closures were initially announced 6 months ago.
The clothing group also has outlets in the Middle East, Canada, Australia and the United States.
