The body of an Irish student who drowned in New York State over the weekend has been recovered.

The unidentified man (20) was rafting with friends in the River Delaware on Saturday when he got into difficulty.

He was in the States on a J1 student work visa.

The area in which the accident happened was full of rapids and it took park officials until last night to locate his remains.
