An Irish woman has suffered serious injuries after her dress caught fire during a wedding on Spain’s Costa Del Sol.
Local media reports that the 29-year-old remains at the serious burns unit of the Virgen de Sevilla Hospital in Seville after the accident last Thursday.
It happened at a holiday rental apartment in the town of Nerja while guests were celebrating the marriage in a room downstairs.
It is understood the woman’s dress caught fire after making contact with some decorative candles.
The woman reportedly suffered third-degree burns to over 70% of her body.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
