It's reported an Irish man has been injured in a pile-up at the Running of the Bulls in the Spanish City of Pamplona.

21 people have been taken to hospital following the incident this morning.

The Department of Foreign Affairs says Irish Embassy officials in Madrid are enquiring about the possibility that an Irish citizen was caught up in the accident.

The injuries occurred when a large group of bull runners fell and blocked the entrance to the bull fighting arena.

Two of the animals leapt over the pile, crushing runners under their hooves.
