An Irishman has been killed in crash in Australia.

38-year-old Seamus Walsh died after his truck hit another truck in New South Wales last night.

According to local news reports it happened on the Pacific highway north of Newcastle.

The married father was originally from Ballyhale in County Kilkenny, but moved to Australia more than a decade ago.

Local Fianna Fáil TD Bobby Alyward offered his sympathy the Walsh family.

“They have a big ordeal on their hands at the moment now; a young man to be taken like that,” he said.

“It is very sad news for the whole area here in south Kilkenny.

“It is a shock to everybody and all we can say is that our sympathy is with the family and our prayers and hopefully they can get through this.”
