Some members of our society are as a matter of course, mocked, patronised, pitied and culturally oppressed because they cannot or will not conform to the romantic norm – they are single.
Are they deviations from the Darwinian compulsion to pair up, or liberated from the capitalist and religious chains of the permanent monogamous relationship?
Sarah was joined by a single man, a single woman and a therapist to look at the positives of flying solo. Her panel was:
- Enda Donnellan, interfaith minister and organiser of Conscious Concert Ireland at the RDS,
- Orla Barry, presenter of the Green Room, every Saturday night at 9pm on Newstalk,
- Prof Jim Sheehan, Professor of Family Therapy in Diakonhjemmet University College, Oslo and a family, couple and individual therapist in private practice in Dublin.
