The ISPCA has launched an appeal for hay to feed rescued horses.
The association said it received over 1,500 equine distress calls relating to neglected or abused horses, ponies and foals in 2012.
Almost 100 of these had to be taken into care - thats over 11% up on 2011.

The ISPCA says it expects to receive in the region of 1,700 calls relating to equine care this year because of the shortage of hay and grass after last years wet summer.
Its now appealing for people to donate online to help them source feed for rescued animals.
