What's the worst wedding faux pas?
Whoever is getting married, Jessica O’Sullivan of One Fab Day said she has one red line that should not be broken by a wedding guest - never turn up wearing white.
Speaking on Moncrieff, Ms O’Sullivan said society has “moved away” from the idea that black is the only colour you cannot wear to the ceremony.
“Traditionally, it was a bit funeral,” she explained.
“But now, I think people will get away it - it’s kind of chic - but what they won’t get away with is wearing white.
“That is a sackable offence - it will never, ever be okay in my book.”
Ms O’Sullivan said brides are wearing “all sorts these days” but that still doesn’t make it okay for you to wear white.
“It will be guaranteed, everybody at that wedding is talking about you if you’re wearing white and you’re not the bride,” she said.
“The thing is, you might have got away with it before, maybe if you wore a print or a short dress or a suit.
“But brides these days have really thrown the rulebook out in terms of their style, so a bride could turn up in anything.
“We see brides in coloured dresses with maybe embroidery on them and we see them in suits and minidresses.
“If at any stage in the day you could be mistaken for the bride, you’re wearing the wrong thing.”
Ms O’Sullivan caveated that in Britain it is “quite traditional” for the bridal party to all wear white, noting Pippa Middleton wore a white dress to the wedding of Prince Willian to Catherine Middleton in 2011.
So now you know, unless you've been told to wear white by the bride - pick another colour when you’re deciding what to wear.
