Italy won the 65th Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam last night with its rock act Maneskin.
The group scored 524 points for their track Zitti E Buoni ahead of France and Switzerland.
It was a bad night for the UK after James Newman, who performed his self-penned dance track Embers, scored nil points.
It was the second year in the row that the UK came last at the Eurovision.
They were joined by Spain and Germany at the bottom of the leader board.
Self-isolating Iceland act Dadi Freyr, who had to watch from his hotel room as his rehearsal performance was played out, came in fourth.
Ireland failed to make it through to this year's Eurovision final after failing to make the top ten in Tuesday's semi-final.
Lesley Roy and her song Maps were not one of the ten acts on the night to make it through to the grand finale.
Due to COVID-19, just 3,500 fans attended the Eurovision 2021 final in the Ahoy Arena.
The contest had to be scrapped completely last year because of the pandemic on the continent, meaning 2019's winner Duncan Laurence had a two-year reign as champion.
Laurence, who was due to perform and hand over the trophy to the winner, ended up self-isolating after testing positive for COVID-19.
Among the more extravagant acts to perform last night were Norway's Tix who was chained to the stage while strapped to angel wings.
Ukraine's Go A included throat singing over a rapidly increasing tempo.
Fans also delighted at the sight of US rapper Flo Rida performing alongside Senhit for San Marino.
Elsewhere, the interval entertainment was provided by a number of previous winners performing on rooftops, including the 2015 winner from Sweden, Mans Zelmerlow, and 2006 winner from Finland, Lordi.
