Some hotels have doubled their prices for the two Oasis concerts taking place in Dublin next summer.
Liam and Noel Gallagher announced their comeback tour earlier this morning, which will begin in Cardiff next July and finish with two dates in Croke Park on August 16th and 17th.
Tens of thousands of fans will be logging in to Ticketmaster at 8am on Saturday when tickets go on sale on a first-come, first-served basis.
Newstalk reporter Joe Caulfield has been crunching the numbers to see how what impact the fanfare is having on hotel prices for next summer’s concert dates.
“There’s a rush to get hotels already just hours after the announcement,” he told Lunchtime Live.
“Last night, you had places around €91, €182, €200 – and then this morning, you’re looking at €450, €521 and €572.
“Prices have doubled, they’ve shot up and you’re even looking at paying €700 for the night.
“Whatever cheaper ones are available, they’re going to be gone by the end of the day because I’ve been clicking through them all morning and they’re disappearing before my eyes.”
“This is it, this is happening”

Mr Caulfield feels the anticipation of the gigs means hotels will have little difficulty moving rooms at high prices.
“People have been waiting for this for so long and the thing is, the vast majority of people going to these gigs will be in the 30–45-year age group,” he said.
“It’s not kids, it’s not students, it’s people who have the money and they’ve been waiting for so long that they’re going to spend it and pay because it’s worth it.”
'Hope'
DJ and presenter Kelly-Anne Byrne, who first saw the band supporting REM when she was 16, said the comeback announcement is emotional for her.
“For me it says hope, there’s always been something really hopeful about Oasis,” she said.
“They are two guys from a council estate in Manchester who made it absolutely huge and are still huge now, as we can see from reaction online.
“I get a lump in my throat whenever I think about it really.”
Oasis amends
Ms Byrne said she’s also happy to see the Gallagher family make amends.
“I'm so happy for their mother and their brother in all of this,” she said.
“I feel like the world is a dark place at the moment and this announcement has brought a lot of people happiness.”
She added that she’s “unbelievably excited” to see the brothers perform live next summer.
