The Chairman of the Labour Parliamentary Party has announced he will not seek re-election.
Kildare South TD, Jack Wall, is the fourth senior member of the party to reveal that he will not contest the next General Election.
“I believe that it’s the right time to go,” Mr Wall told KFM.
He said that while it was “a huge privilege” to represent the people of Kildare, he now wants “to move on and to enjoy life.”
Deputy Wall was first elected in 1993, and has been chair of the parliamentary party for the last 8 years.
His announcement follows those of former leaders Eamon Gilmore, Ruairi Quinn and Pat Rabbitte in recent months.
