Singers Jedward were a bit too close to the waterline - having had to be rescued by the coastguard yesterday.

The Lucan twins became trapped on a sandbank near Malahide after going for a walk at Donabate in Dublin.

John and Edward Grimes contacted their mum who then raised the alarm.

The coastguard helicopter was mobilised but a spokesperson has told the Irish Sun the pair were in "no immediate danger".

The twins rose to fame in the sixth series of 'The X Factor' in 2009 and they were also contestants on 'Celebrity Big Brother' in 2011.

The pair represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012.
