US TV talkshow host Jerry Springer has died at the age of 79.
He hosted 'The Jerry Springer Show' for 27 years, which was syndicated to several countries around the world.
The show aired for 27 seasons and nearly 5,000 episodes from 1991 to 2018.
It was known as much for its outrageous topics as it was for its fights, which saw the audience chant Springer's name.
He always ended the broadcast with the catchphrase: "Take care of yourself and each other".
Celebrity website TMZ said Springer had been diagnosed with cancer several months ago, and died at his home in the Chicago area.
As well as his own show, Springer made several guest appearances as himself on shows such as 'The Simpsons' and the 2009 mockumentary 'Brüno'.
Springer also hosted 'America's Got Talent' from 2007 to 2008.
Before his TV career, he served as the 56th Mayor of Cincinnati from 1977 to 1978.
A family spokesperson said his death "hurts immensely" but that "memories of his intellect, heart and humour will live on."
