Dublin City Council has unanimously voted to award football manager, Jim Gavin, the freedom of the city at this evening's council meeting.
It comes after he guided the Dublin team to their record-breaking fifth successive All-Ireland title.
The nomination was made by Dublin Lord Mayor, Paul McAuliffe.
Jim Gavin will join other recipients including Bono and Live Aid organiser, Bob Geldof although he handed his award back in protest over the leader of Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi, holding the award as well.
Councillors voted in 2017 withdraw the Freedom of the City on Ms Suu Kyi and instructed because of the repression of her country’s Rohingya Muslims.
