Seven men have appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a senior police officer in Tyrone.
The men - two aged 28 and the others aged 33, 38, 45, 47 and 72 - were arrested on Friday and appeared before Dungannon Magistrates' Court via videolink today.
All seven men were charged with the attempted murder of PSNI Inspector John Caldwell.
Along with this, two of the men, aged 38 and 45, have also been charged with membership of a “proscribed organisation”, the IRA, according to the PSNI.
Three of the men, aged 28, 33 and 47, have also been charged with preparation of terrorist acts.
Judge Keown said this was a “meticulously planned attack” and the risk of further attacks is “too unmanageable”.
They will remain in custody until their next court appearance in Omagh Magistrates' Court on June 27th.
Shooting
Mr Caldwell was shot several times by two gunmen in the car park of a sports complex in Omagh in front of several children, including his son.
The PSNI arrested 11 people on Friday under the Terrorism Act in Omagh and Coalisland.
They were taken to the Serious Crime Suite in Musgrave for questioning – but two men, aged 34 and 21, and two women, aged 52 and 34, were later released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
