/> John Joe Nevin will be hoping to secure Ireland’s second Gold Medal at the London Olympics – when he takes on Britain’s Luke Campbell tonight in the bantamweight final.
The fight gets underway at 8.45pm.
Nevin has met Campbell twice in the past, losing last year on a countback in the semi-final of the world championships in Baku.
Meanwhile, there was some disppointment for Belfast fighters Michael Conlan and Paddy Barnes who lost their semi-final bouts yesterday, but both come home wearing Bronze medals.
/> Elsewhere today, there’s Irish interest in the men’s 50k and the women’s 20k walks, as well as Ireland’s first ever competitor in the modern pentathlon.
First up at a quarter to nine, 20 year old Arthur Lanigan-O’Keeffe will compete in the Men’s Modern Pentathlon.
He was only confirmed as an Olympian on July 23rd, after the exclusion of a Polish competitor.
Then at 9am, Rob Heffernan, Brendan Boyce and Colin Griffin are all competing in the Men’s 50k Race Walk.
And later this evening, at 5pm, Olive Loughnane and Laura Reynolds will take part in the women’s 20k Race Walk.
