The 2022 John Lewis Christmas ad is here - and this year’s effort really pulls on the heart strings.
It’s that time of year when brands look to capitalise on the build-up to the big day, with Aldi’s family of carrots and Lidl’s celebrity teddy bear already all over the airwaves.
This morning, UK department store chain John Lewis dropped its latest offering – a heart-warming tale about a family preparing to foster a child.
The commercial features a middle-aged man learning to skateboard and picking up plenty of bumps and bruises along the way.
He gets more and more obsessed with his new hobby as Christmas approaches and as the ad comes to a close, we learn why.
Young teen Ellie arrives at the door holding her skateboard and clearly nervous to meet her new family – and is delighted to see the man’s skateboard - and injured wrist - as she walks in.
The ad features a cover version of Blink-182’s ‘All the Small Things,’ performed by former America’s Got Talent contestant Puddles Pity Party.
The ad notes that over 108,000 children are currently in the care system in the UK.
