The search for missing Icelandic man Jon Jonsson in a Dublin park has ended without finding “any further information” on his whereabouts.
The searches in Santry Demesne Park began on Tuesday after Gardaí received two anonymous tip-offs about the case.
On Wednesday an area of the park was sealed off after cadaver dogs picked up something that ‘warranted further investigation’.
This morning, Gardaí said the searches “yielded no further information on the whereabouts of Jon Jonsson”.
Mr Jonsson was last seen leaving his hotel in Santry and heading towards the park on February 9th, 2019.
The then-41-year-old was visiting Ireland for a poker tournament and was staying at the Bonnington Hotel.
Gardaí say they have followed 270 lines of inquiry in the years since.
Investigators have taken “numerous statements” and hours of CCTV footage have been reviewed.
Meanwhile, investigators are continuing the assess the two pieces of anonymous correspondence they have received.
They are urging the person or person who sent them make direct contact – promising that they will be “dealt with in the strictest confidence”.
They are also urging anyone who has any information on Mr Jonsson’s disappearance or who can help to find him to contact them.
