The jury in the trial of former solicitor Thomas Byrne has been sent home overnight after a third day of deliberations.
The 47-year-old of Mountjoy Square in Dublin denies forgery, fraud, deception and the theft of nearly €52 million from 6 financial institutions between 2004 and 2007.
It is now nearly 11 and a half hours on the clock. This morning the jurors were offered the option of returning majority verdicts on some or all of the 50 charges that have been laid against Thomas Byrne.
The former solicitor is accused of fraudulently transferring clients' houses into his name and using the properties as collateral for millions of euro worth of bank loans.
He gave evidence he was acting under threat from property developer John Kelly. Tomorrow the jury will go into their fourth day of deliberations.
It should be remembered that they indicated two days ago that they had made their minds up on some of the charges, but Judge Patrick McCartan instructed them to keep deliberating until they were satisfied on all counts.
