Coldplay wowed thousands of fans at Croke Park last night with ‘just an incredible performance’.
Some 80,000 people turned out to see the band bang out hit after hit – and one of them was Newstalk’s Digital and Social Media Executive Ciara Treacy.
On Newstalk Breakfast, she described it as “genuinely one of the best performances I have ever seen”.
“I’ve seen a good few [bands play] but that was just something else,” she said.
“It was an experience that was just unmatched to anything else I’ve experienced; it was one of the most intimate, personable gigs - despite the fact there were over 80,000 in Croke Park.”

On Wednesday, Chris Martin gave fans a sneak peek about what to expect when he pitched up on Grafton Street and played a free gig to thousands.
Over the years, the singer has been showered with awards by the music industry, winning seven Grammys and nine Brit awards.
Despite the years of fame and wealth, Ciara said Chris Martin has retained an “incredible” connection with Coldplay fans.
“He spoke some Irish, he used cameras to pan on different members of the audience,” she said.
“It was just so special.”

Coldplay formed back in 1997 but despite nearly three decades of touring the world and performing their music, Ciara said it still seems like they are enjoying themselves.
“They’ve been singing the same songs for a long time now but it still feels fresh,” she said.
“It doesn’t feel like they’re bored of performing Yellow for the millionth time.
“They make it feel special; they make it feel like they have come to your city for you and they just put on an incredible performance.”
With that in mind, Ciara does not feel like this was a farewell tour.
“[Chris Martin] had so much energy to give,” she said.
“They released a new single; you heard it on Grafton Street and you heard it performed again last night.
“It feels new - I feel there’s more in the tank, it was very exciting.”
Coldplay will continue their Croke Park residency for the next three nights – selling nearly 330,000 tickets in the process.
Irish Rail has advised fans travelling to the next few gigs to make sure they have their tickets booked due to the high demand for seats on trains to Dublin ahead of the event.
