Only four countries will remain on the travel green list from Monday, as several countries are being removed.

Germany and Poland are among those that will be removed - only a week after they were added.

As of Monday, the list will consist of Cyprus, Finland, Latvia and Liechtenstein.

However, Liechtenstein is the only country that doesn't have restrictions for travellers arriving from other jurisdictions.

Lithuania and Iceland will also be removed from the current list after the weekend.

People arriving in Ireland from countries on the green list do not need to restrict their movements for 14 days.

The green list is currently being updated weekly, and is based on countries which have a COVID-19 incidence rate of 25 per 100,000 population or lower.

The current system will be replaced next month, as the Government is planning to adopt the EU's planned 'traffic light' system - which will see countries rated as green, orange or amber depending on virus rates - once it's finalised by European leaders.
