The Justice Minister has asked the Garda Commissioner to address any inappropriate use of the Garda internal computer system.

Alan Shatter says he believes that there are issues concerning the access and use of information on the Pulse System.

The Justice Minister says he wants to ensure that people who have done no wrong do not have their privacy violated by information appearing in the public domain, which could unfairly damage their reputation.

Mr. Shatter was speaking at the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) annual conference. He says he has asked the Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan to address any misuse of the Pulse System.

He says it should not be used as some sort of social network to be viewed out of curiosity by members of the force.
