Independent TD Clare Daly has denied she named a person under Dail privelege who's alleging that Gardai covered up the murder of a civilian by a member of the force.
The Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald today requested a full report into the claim.
The Independent TD recently used Dáil privilege to claim that an officer witnessed a colleague shooting a member of the public.
Speaking to Today Fm this evening, Fine Gael TD Alan Farrell accused Deputy Daly of naming the person making the allegations - a claim the independent TD denied, saying: "Can I categorically says that I did not mention any name of anybody in relation to this allegation, at any time."
This afternoon on Lunchtime, TD Clare Daly responded to the Justice Minister call for a full report into her allegation that a Garda murdered a civilian.
The Independent TD recently used Dáil privilege to claim that an officer witnessed a colleague shooting a member of the public. She went on to say that he was asked by senior officers to say he wasn’t there.
She told Lunchtime that the person involved had already gone to GSOC and that it wasn't her position to approach them in this case.
She also stated that she hoped the Minister was investigating this.
Deputy Daly said that some of Minister Fitzgerald's colleagues made contact with the person who made the complaint after she revealed the information in the Dáil:
