The Bray boxer was presented with the award at a special ceremony in Dublin last night.
Master of the National Maternity Hospital at Holles Street Dr. Rhona Mahony scooped the Public Life Award.
Meanwhile chief executive officer of the Immigrant Council of Ireland Denise Charlton picked up the Special Recognition Award.
Former Judge Catherine McGuinness won the Hall of Fame Award.
Taylor takes gold
Taylor qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London which was the first time women’s boxing had been considered for inclusion.
She went on to defeat Sofya Ochigava of Russia in the final bout by 10-8 on August 9th winning the Olympic gold medal.
Taylor has said she “would love to stay amateur” and fight for a second Olympic gold medal at the Rio games in 2016.
The 4-time world champion told Newstalk that she is determined to stay amateur despite lucrative offers from the U.S., the U.K. and Germany to turn her hand to the professional game.
