Katie Taylor's success in the ring is set to be honoured with a statue.
Wicklow County Council are proposing to erect a statue of the famous boxer in her home town of Bray.
Taylor became the undisputed lightweight champion of the world at the weekend, when she beat Delfine Persoon at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
The 32-year-old rose to prominence with her gold medal win at the 2012 London Olympics, before turning professional in 2016.
Local Councillor Joe Behan says the former Olympic medalist is a real role model, and that she is a fantastic ambassador for the people of Bray, and for young people in general.
