Katie Taylor defeated English boxer Chantelle Cameron in a tight rematch, making her the undisputed light-welterweight champion of the world.
The lightweight titleholder won by majority decision in the 3Arena to take the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO light-welterweight belts from her opponent.
Ms Taylor and Ms Cameron traded blows over 10 gruelling rounds, resulting in a 95-95, 98-92 and 96-94 score from the judges.
The two women played to a sellout crowd of over 9,000 in the Dublin arena.
Following her win, the Irish champion said the match was “the greatest night of my career so far”.
“I think over the last few months I would just go to bed thinking about this rematch,” she said.
“This win meant so much to me: two-way undisputed champion in front of my home crowd.
“Whoever wrote me off obviously don’t know me very well. Don’t ever doubt me.”
Within minutes of her win, Ms Taylor called for a trilogy fight with Ms Cameron in Croke Park.
“You saw the worst of me in May. You saw the best of me tonight. Let’s get the trilogy in Croke Park,” she said.
The Irish Olympic gold medallist was not the favourite to win within the boxing community, with the match being described as the first time Ms Taylor was an “underdog”.
