Newstalk are proud to support Katie Taylor in her bid for Olympic Gold.

Katie spoke to our sports editor Ger Gilroy about her training and sparring in her last interview before the games on July 7th about the days running up to the games which begin on July 27th.

The Irish Olympic boxing team were at the National Stadium last Tuesday July 10th to meet the press for the last time before they leave for a final training camp in Italy.

The five participants were there. Katie was immersed in her training and couldn’t make it to the South Circular Road venue.

However her father and coach Peter was on hand to talk about Katie realising her dream of getting to the Olympics, how she’ll deal with being Ireland’s poster girl for the games, and the support that she’s received from the Irish people in the run-up.
