All eyes are now on tomorrow when Ireland’s Katie Taylor will aim for Olympic gold.
The 26-year-old Wicklow boxer defeated Mavzuna Chorieva from Tajikistan by 17 points to 9 at the Excel Arena this afternoon in front of a huge Irish crowd.
The 4-time world champion has now secured at least a silver medal.
She will compete for gold tomorrow afternoon at 4:45pm when she faces Sofia Ochigava of Russia.
Up to 4,000 people turned out in her hometown of Bray in Co. Wicklow this afternoon to watch the semi-final bout.
