A Kerry man has been acquitted of raping and falsely imprisoning his ex-girlfriend over two years ago but convicted of assaulting the woman.
The man had pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to rape, two charges of assault causing the woman harm and one charge of false imprisonment in a Kerry town on June 17, 2012.
The jury returned its verdict following six hours deliberation.

Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy revoked the man’s bail and remanded him custody until March 16 next for sentence when all evidence will be heard.
