Kerry has secured its first Women’s All-Ireland Football title in 30 years after defeating Galway in the final this evening.
The Kingdom defeated Galway 3-14 to 0-11.
Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh made a big difference for Kerry in the first half, scoring six out of the eight points achieved.
Wing-back Aoife Dillane secured a goal for the Kingdom in the last 30 seconds before half-time, giving the team a boost to take victory in the second half.
Hannah O'Donoghue and Emma Dineen scored the second and third Kerry goals as the team emerged from its third consecutive final as champions.
This is Kerry’s 12th title in the All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship – making them the sole team with the most titles.
The county previously shared the title with Cork.
It is also the Kingdom’s first win since 1993.
They were runners-up in last year’s final against Dublin, but today claimed victory against Galway.
The Tribeswomen haven’t won a final since 2004 – their only Championship title – and they will unfortunately have to wait a while longer before they can once again lift the cup.
