Peak audiences for Patrick Kielty's Late Late Show debut this weekend failed to reach the numbers of former host Ryan Tubridy's debut.
The first episode of the talk show’s new season had a peak audience of 934,000, according to RTÉ.
There was an average audience viewership of 830,000, representing 62% of the audience market share.
Former host Ryan Tubridy’s first show on RTÉ had a peak audience of 1.6 million, according to figures from RTÉ.
Mr Kielty's first hosting gig, however, broke the record for most streams on RTÉ Player for a Late Late Show season opener at 158,000 streams.
Mr Tubridy’s first episode of his last season reached an average 434,000 views and dropped to 394,000 average viewers by the third episode.
Mr Tubridy's final Late Late Show had an audience of almost 700,000.
Last year’s Late Late Toy Show had an average 1.33 million viewers.
On social media, Late Late Show accounts got 7.6 million views since the beginning of September.
Mr Kielty was praised for his comedic monologue, and many praised the recorded introduction by former host Gay Byrne.
Many also said, however, the surprise guests did not match expectations for a new season of The Late Late Show.
Guests on the first episode of the rebooted Late Late included former Irish President Mary McAleese, comedian Tommy Tiernan and The Two Johnnies.
