Two men die in Kildare plane crash
Two men have died in a plane crash in County Kildare.
The light aircraft came down at Belan, Moone in Athy yesterday evening.
Gardaí carried out a search with the Coast Guard helicopter rescue 116 and found the plane at around 4:30am.
One of the men was 70-years-old and the other was in his late 50s.
HIQA calls for introduction of PrEP programme to prevent HIV
The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) has recommended the introduction of a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) programme to prevent HIV.
It has published aan assessment in which it calls for the treatment for populations "at substantial risk" of sexual acquisition of HIV.
HIQA has advised Health Minister Simon Harris that the successful implementation of a national PrEP programme in Ireland would be "safe, effective and cost-saving."
Man arrested after woman's body discovered in Co Mayo
A man has been arrested after a woman's body was found in Co Mayo.
The body was found at a house in the Kilbree area, near Westport.
The man - aged in his 40s - who was arrested is being held at Castlebar Garda Station.
US claims footage shows Iranian forces pulling unexploded mine from tanker
The US has released a video which it claims shows Iranian forces removing an unexploded mine from an oil tanker that caught fire in the Gulf of Oman yesterday.
Washington has accused Iran of attacking two tankers in the area yesterday morning.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Tehran launched the attack in a bid to escalate tensions in the region - and said the US ambassador to the UN would raise the issue before the Security Council.
Iran has said it "categorically rejects" the allegation.
Man charged over murder of Peter Donnelly on Dublin's O'Connell Street
A 28-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Peter Donnelly on Dublin's O'Connell Street earlier this week.
Damien Singleton, of no fixed abode, appeared before Dublin District Court on Friday morning over the death, which occurred in the early hours of last Tuesday morning.
Mr Singleton was wearing a dark green t-shirt and grey pants and had a cast on his arm for the Dublin District Court sitting.
