Gardaí investigating the murder of a man in Co Kildare last night have named the victim as 20-year-old Jamie Lindsay.

Lindsay, who is originally from Dublin, was shot as he walked near his home in the Coneyboro estate in Athy just before 9pm last night.

He was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

Investigating officers say the man's family has been notified but the remains are not expected to be formally identified until results of a post mortem are known.
